PREFILING OF LEGISLATION BEGINS IN TEXAS FOR THE 2025 SESSION

Gun Rights

Dear NRA Member:

Prefiling of legislation for the 2025 Regular Session of the Texas Legislature began on Tuesday.  Within the first three days, more than 75 firearm-related bills had been filed, the majority of which were anti-gun measures that would make Biden-Harris and national gun control organizations proud. These include:

  • Red flag gun confiscation
  • Bans on private firearms transfers
  • Restrictions on standard magazine capacity
  • Prohibitions on commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms
  • Effective repeal of campus carry, open carry, and the state firearms preemption law

NRA-ILA is reviewing all of these proposals, as well as a number of pro-Second Amendment measures that have been prefiled.  We will report back to you on the progress of pro- and anti-gun bills when the Texas Legislature convenes on January 14.

Please continue to check your inbox and NRA-ILA for updates concerning your Second Amendment rights and hunting heritage.
