Republican Party has become scary — Floyd Munro

Gun Rights

Now retired, I think about years back when I belonged to the National Rifle Association and sometimes voted for Republicans. As an avid hunter and gun owner, I was all for gun safety. And I always respected the GOP — whether I voted for them or not.

Over time, the NRA has become more about money, power and political influence. They use Second Amendment scare tactics to convince members to arm themselves to the teeth. The Republican Party expanded on this strategy of instilling fear — claiming you are losing your fundamental rights and freedoms.

What they don’t tell you is they’re the ones attacking them. Whether it’s banning books, restricting voting rights or setting rules for pregnant women — they chisel away. The rights of workers, the LGBTQ+ community, Black people and others are all targeted.

Even families without kids should have less rights, and heavier people should pay more for insurance — these are some of the crazy ideas from this party. Teachers, health-care providers and election officials have all become scapegoats.

But wait. That’s just the beginning. The party of “less government regulations” now wants to dictate everything in our lives. Look up Project 2025 — the Heritage Foundation’s blueprint for the next Republican president. This eye-opening plan shows you just how scary the GOP has become.
